Hi-
As some of you know, our cat Mesmer has been happily living as an indoor/outdoor cat for several years - until he went missing on Sunday night.
After a day of phone calls to shelters and going door to door, we found him on Monday night hidden away under a bush in a neighbor's yard, only a block away from home. He was meowing in response to our calls, but would not get up. He'd probably been there since the night before. We took him immediately to Dove Lewis for tests and x-rays and found three fractures in his pelvis - most likely from a car. Thankfully he's a young and healthy cat, so they were able to get him stabilized over the next day.
We have visited him several times before and since the surgery on Wednesday. He was himself - purring and responsive - and happily drugged up. I've attached a pre-op picture, where he looks more dignified than he does now with his back end shaved. Since the surgery, he's been resting under a blanket at the ICU where he will stay for observation. We are looking forward to bringing him home - maybe today - and to his smooth and full recovery.
Thanks for your support and your good thoughts for Mesmer.
